Top Ten Books in my TBR Pile

Hello fellow book lovers!! Since I have a huge TBR (to be read) Pile and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger, I decided to post about the top ten books or series I’m most excited about actually getting to. They are not going to be posted in any particular order since I usually change the order I want to read them in anyways, it depends on what I’m craving (romance, mystery, fantasy, etc.) So here we go…

The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell

31127991

Stop the magician. Steal the book. Save the future. This book is set in New York where Mageus (magicians) live in hiding and magic is almost extinct. Our main character, Esta, was trained to steal magic and has an ability to travel through time. So her task is to go back to 1902, steal the ancient book, and save New York. I saw this book in the stands of Walmart’s limited library but it instantly caught my attention since I’m a huge fan of fantasy, magic and all that. Plus the cover is really nice.

Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

This one was a series I judged by its cover (also the titles). I’m pretty excited about reading this series because I’m a big fan of fairy tales but at the same time I’m kind of hesitant, robots kind of freak me out. The Lunar Chronicles are about a new retelling of classic fairy tales including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Snow White. It takes place in a futuristic world where earthens, cyborgs, androids, and a race of moon colonists all coexist.

One of us is lying by Karen M. McManus

I’ve been craving a good mystery and this one sounds really interesting. I heard about it from Booktuber Polandbananabooks aka Christine Riccio. She has similar taste in books to mine so I love watching her videos and seeing what she’s reading. “One of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.” Really psyched to read this one.

Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Mass

Never thought I’d be so excited to read about an assassin as a main character but this books just came to my attention and they’re already pretty high on my list. The concept really caught my eye plus I’ve heard great things about it (and about the author). Throne of Glass consists of a teenage assassin in a corrupted kingdom with a tyrannical ruler. She survives in prison longer that was expected and the tyrannical king wants her services in exchange of her freedom.

Court of Thorn and Roses Series by Sarah J. Mass

So I heard this one is not PG-13 but I’m not sure, I don’t really mind as long as it has an actual plot and not only sexy stuff. It has really good reviews on Goodreads and people have recommend it to me. The trilogy focuses on the tale of Feyre, as she is brought into the faerie lands of Prythian, after murdering a faerie; it also is a retelling of multiple fairy tales including The Beauty and the Beast and Hades and Persephone but with faerie lore; so I’m really looking forward to reading this series.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

ten-books-a-month

It sounds like it’s full of mystery and mischief plus I’ve heard a lot of people have a crush on Kaz, our main character. Kaz Brekker, a criminal prodigy, has been offered a lot of money  but to claim it, he’ll have to pull off the impossible: Break into the notorious Ice Court (a military stronghold that has never been breached), retrieve a hostage (who could unleash magical havoc on the world) and survive long enough to collect his reward (and spend it). Kaz needs a crew get the job done so he chooses six of the deadliest outcasts the city has. Together, they just might be unstoppable, if they don’t kill each other first. I hope is as good as it sounds.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Every once in a while when I’m feeling down or I need a break from all the supernatural, I like to pick up a contemporary, romantic book to cheer me up. I have a longer list with all the contemporaries, romantic books I want to read but this one is my number. I’m a big fan of stories that start out the wrong way and then everything comes together. This book is girl meets boy, they hate each other but are attracted to each other, make rules and become friends with benefits but too late realize that friends with benefits never works and love gets ugly. Classic.

Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan

The_Hidden_Oracle

Rick Riordan is a god himself. Everything he writes is golden, I’ve read Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the Heroes of Olympus series so I’m pretty pumped about getting to this third chapter in the story. The only thing holding me back other than the book I’m reading currently, is that I want to re-read all the previous series again before getting to this one but I’ll do it, eventually.

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan

This series follows a whole new world of gods and myths, Norse mythology. it follows Annabeth’s cousin Magnus (who apparently hates blue), and a whole lot of new characters as they go on their own adventures. I don’t think I have to say much more, especially since I said everything in the description above, I can’t till I get to read about this new adventures.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

If you guys have read my “How I got into reading?” post, you know vampires hold a dear place in my heart. I haven’t read a book with vampires in a long time and I miss them. This vampires probably don’t sparkle but the story is about more than falling in love. Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earth’s magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest vampires—the ones who never die. The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa’s best friend, makes her a dhampir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making Lissa one of them. A whole new world of vampires for me to fan-girl.

There you go the top ten books/series I want to read. My TBR pile is huge so let me know if you guys want a part 2. Comment down below if you guys have read any of this books/series and what you thought or if any of them are in your TBR pile. Hope you guys liked, until next time!

  1. Fantastic list. My own TBR is slowly nearing 150 and I only list the first of the series I want to read.. DEFINITELY Sara Maas, I’ve been hearing SO much about her.

I LOVED Six of Crows; it is probably my favorite series ever. I’m very excited to read the Wonder Woman book by Leigh Bardugo.

I need to finish the Cinder series, too. I enjoyed the first two.

I hope you enjoy these books!

  2. THIS LIST!!! So many of my favorites. The Lunar Chronicles is absolutely wonderful–the premise sounds strange but is SO good (don’t worry she’s a cyborg, not robot so she human as well!). Personally, I like the ACOTAR series more than the overall Throne of Glass series, but they are both good! I too need to get around to reading Rick’s Magnus Chase books. Hope you get to conquering this TBR soon!
